Darn, I do remember reserve pools forgot all about it. It didn't last
long. Usually the oldheads took it. It paid 10 basic days per half. The
trainmen got them established sometime in the early '90s. CSX some how
managed to manipulate the calculations on when slots would be
available. I got it mixed up with furlough boards. I don't know if
furlough boards still excist with these retention boards. I knew guys
working off a furlough board that were making better money than the
freight pools. Most people during seasonal furloughs never bothered to
put in a letter. Those that did worked steady.
