Denied Claims

Claim Invalid??

Railroaders work, and expect to be paid. It's a simple idea. Less work means less pay. Likewise, more work should mean more pay, but that's not the way things work on the CSX. According to union contracts, there are situations that warrant additional pay, for additional work, but more often than not, these claims are not honored by the CSX.

Broke,

If they backed my ticket out like that while I was working I would have
been on the phone to the fra. Guarentee you they had his starts screwed
up. Its bad enough to have to make up stuff all the time just to get
your tickets to take when you try to tell the truth and nothing but the
truth, but stealing one from you while you are working, thats grounds
for them to be fired! Wonder what would have happened it he had been
hurt or they had a derailment while he was out there. Probably would
have said he shouldnt have been out there when he didnt have a working
ticket! Dead head tickets are becoming a joke too. Always something
wrong with them when they pre report them and freeze them up. I think
he should call Mr ward and ask him if he can loan him a couple hundred
bucks to tide him over until the company can find the time to put his
pay ticket back in!

I never expected a penalty claim to be paid on time. In most cases
depending on the claim I expected it to be denied. The only thing I
knew for certian was what I earned by train/job each half minus claims
if I was shorted then payroll got a call. Other then that a penalty
claim the railroad has a time limit it could be in research for several
pay periods then paid or denied. If denied give it to the LC for further
handling. You think ya'll are the first to get screwed on penalty
claims? Your not. In fact its been going on ever since ralroads an
unions had agreement. Your thinking is like comparing an apple to an
onion not even an orange. lol

Maybe RRJ just doesnt understand where your anger comes from but I sure
the hell do! Got screwed out of close to 600 bucks of my pay because
some idiot in the claims department doesnt know their job. They even
have the nerve to write stupid remarks on your earning statements that
a fricken 2 year old could see is wrong! Heard a guy complaining that
they took his ticket out while he was working and when he raised hell
to get it put back in he was told that they couldnt do anything about
it now and he was just going to half to wait until a later day! So
when I see articles like the one on ward and his new play palace, yeah
it pisses me off too! 600 bucks is pocket change to him. Dont give a
rats butt what kind of degree he has. He needs to start paying more
attention to this crap.Times are hard for some of us. When you have
bills to pay, kids to feed, school clothes to buy and your counting on
getting all the money you worked for and you know is rightfully yours,
it sucks mule^*$(#$@ when your shorted. Wonder what the stockholders
would think if we dumped about 100,000 denied claims on their door
steps to sort through!

Of course Ward can afford it. Why not? He's been CEO/president of CSX
since 2003. He was the president of CSX under John Snow before 2003. It
doesn't matter what he buys that's his business. If someone is jealous
then they should of gotten a degree from Harvard then hired on in
management working their way up the ladder. Other than that union
railroaders make darn good money for someone who more than likely only
has a high school diploma. I personally don't care what railroad upper
management makes. If we look at the big spectrum they aren't anywhere
near those on Wall Street, banks, insurance ect....that's true for all
the railroads upper management not just CSX. I know a lot of railroaders
T&E making 6 digits a year. I was making mid '70s to low '80s on a
yard pusher a few yard industry switcher jobs were making over
$100,000. If I knew that earlier I would of went into the yard earlier
and not spent over 30 years on the road. The extra income wasn't
really that important. Even though I did like the road lifestyle.

Looks like Big Mike can afford to own two riverfront homes, furnish them
and have backyard BBQ's while you work your behind off and have claims
denied for no valid reason.

CSX CEO Michael Ward buys $2.3M riverfront home

Lol!

You have seen it all (lol).

Well, damn. Who can wade through all the "lol's" here and give a
comprehensive response to this idiot?

Thumbs up to signing/conceding to a voluntary EBS agreement for the
Northern Region trainmen!

The Carrier wants it.....so, do (you)?

Think about that, really think about it.

To Doomed:

No, they are just drinking the coolaid...LMFAO!

I've seen the company offer those positions to every union LC that
comes along, its nothing new...lol

I've also seen & heard first hand how the Trainmasters & Roadforeman
are treated. Why do you think they are hiring so many off the street
now with no experience? So they can fire them with no craft to fall
back on..LMAO!

If a LC takes a company position, it just goes to show that he wasn't
that smart at all.

Nobody wants false prophets running the show not only in government, but
also more importantly in the white house. This is why we need to get rid
of the black serpent Obama and vote in a true prophet like me. I will
see that new legislation is passed to protect your pensions. I will see
that you get more rest and we will stop the harassment of RR union
workers everywhere. I will see that you turn your yard tricks every day
with guaranteed pay. And there will be no more sneaky abusive TMs or
RDs. I will replace all RR executives and replace them with friendlier
Indians and Chinese who will bring peace and tranquility to your lives.
I will also repeal the one man line wife rule of monogamous marriage and
ask Congress to pass my Morman Freedom Bill so men of all religions can
have more than one wife. I will see that all the wastefully spending
is cut so that you are not going to see the government waste your hard
earned money on something stupid like ObamaCare. I will see that
insurance companies, banks and Big Corporations stop treating their
employees like some kind of slaves working for a false prophet. Yes, I
am a capitalist but unlike the others I have a good heart and would
never let the vampires of the corporate world feast on you like they
did under Clinton who was a womanizing pervert in much the same way I
Obama is a socialist spendaholic. I will lead you to a better place
my friends. Units need you to trust me like you trusted Reagan and Bush
both of whom were also good Republicans just like I am I can assure you.
Trust me. If you vote for me in November I williams sure that you and
every other hard working American gets everything they have coming to
them and I swear to you on my dear mothers graves that I will NOT
outsource your jobs to Mexico, India, China, Canada, North Africa
Sudan, East Africa,Maylasia, Pakistan, Peru, or Guatemala. You have my
personal word on this. I will not create economic chaos like my
predessor the false prophet Obama who wasn't even born here. I LOVE
UNIONS. Vote for me Mitt Romney in November.. PLEASE DONATE ....GO TO
my website at Mitt4 President.com and donate $1 million dollars. If you
can't even $$100,000 would be OK. Thanks!!

YEP!!! Heard the same thing. Yard LC trying to get TM position on the
chicago division. At least he has the good sense to go to another
division! They would just take him on the GLD to get him out of his
union position then turn around and fire him! Got to wonder what they
are offering him because he knows the living hell that the tm's and
RF's have been going through ever since the "false prophet" and his
sheep took over!

Bosco,

Go to the employee gateway and under under employee self service select
my pay and create a case. You can ask them where your pay/award is and
why you have not recieved it. You can call the payroll department and
ask them to create a case for you if you have problems navigating on
gateway. If you have already talked to them and they have no answers
then you can always send a registered letter to the financial
department asking for answers. If the award is addressed in your union
agreement then there is no reason your union shouldnt know the answer
to your question.

Goob

RRB is based on compensation not necessarily just earned income. These
productivity bonus were in lieu of pay raises. They directly link
people to company performance on not just productivity but also keeping
operating expenses at levels within CSX's goals.

I know all about 401K & IRA being tax deferred.

RRJ
401k and IRA are very similar in the way they work. By that I mean
(Before) tax funds go in and (Taxed) funds come out. There is no (tax
free) however (tax deferred) is the way they work. After you
investigate the BONUS system, I think you will find that earned income
is one thing (number) and total compensation is a different (number).

I read your first response. That's a darn good question is the
performance bonus counted as income towards Railroad Retirement. I'd
have to go back an check my RRB BA-6 forms. I left in 2009 that was
only 2 years working where I earned it. I would think so. The figure
used for RRB is listed on the payroll check stub in the upper left hand
column pre-tax. If a person took the bonus as cash RRB tier I & II taxes
would be taken out. That would benefit towards obtaining a max RRB tax
goal. Usually by september/october I usually maxed out my payments in
tier I, the tier II was higher to max out but not impossible. With tier
I paid up it was an extra couple hundred in my pocket each payday.
