A lot of truth in your post.

But I've seen several ceo with totally different ideas. CSX has made
money since it was founded by Snow. The RR is an absolute monopoly.
This place can and will make money regardless who is El Capitan. Anyone
can layoff men and close terminals down?HH isn't turning this place
around it was already successful before his. Arrival. HH legacy or
anyone else affiliated with the RR won't be remembered 20 years after
passing. No one will even remember his name in 10 years.

You're correct I can only speak on divisions I've worked. The four
I've worked there are a few flips in a year, a few more dhs and very
seldom is a trip less than 10 hours.

I know everything on the RR is time consuming. Let's say someone has
a 6 hour trip. By the time lower management makes up their minds goes
over the bs you, talk to dispatcher, wait on dispatcher bulletins, talk
to customer service for work order go over paperwork find an error, talk
to everyone again get it ok'd. Now you're ready to go but the damn cab
isn't there. Call cab company call chief. Trainmasters calls you so
explain what the hell is taking so long. Ride shows up dh to train
traffic slows you down. Finally make to train unlock it, fire up the
engines, take the brakes off buzz up dispatcher, buzz up dispatcher,
buzz up dispatcher, dispatcher answers ok bulletins. Tells you you will
leave after the 3rd train. 3rd train passes no signal buzz up
dispatcher buzz up dispatcher buzz up dispatcher dispatcher answers ask
if you stiil have a cab? You tell him no he says I'll order you one
because you don't have enough time.etc etc etc

OLD HAT & POS

Your opinions may be correct for the divisions that you work in at the
moment( if your lucky to keep it) but it does not hold true in ever one
of them. Flips do happen and trips do run quicker than 10 hours for
some. You are obviously unhappy at this time and are spouting,

PAY ATTENTION NEW HIRES!

Hunter Harrison is not in this game for the long haul. He is too old
and has questionable health issues. However, health issues are of no
concern for him. He can afford the best of doctors and care.
What HH wants is to make his last stand. To be known as the greatest
CEO in railroad history. He wants a feather in his last cap and wants
the final chapter in his life and career to be known as the man who
took over CSX and turned it around. The great and powerful Hunter
Harrison did what no one else could do for a failing railroad. Your
biggest concern better be what the HELL HAPPENS IF HE CANT DO IT! Will
he take his cash and run? Will he leave it all a mess half done? Will
the shareholders and customers freak out and end up causing a crash in
your stock. Start saving some money! Put back now for what could be
an extra happy savings account or your mortgage payments.

His first decision was to get in and cut operating expenses. Cut the
over head. That is exactly what he is doing at this very moment.
Closing unnecessary yards and shops are minor. Unloading any
unnecessary assets that do nothing but take up space and are showing no
return will be his biggest task in the next few months. Trains can be
rerouted or doubled or moved in several blocks. Do your homework and
you will learn that this is not a problem. Katrina did not stop the
railroad. Delayed it but didn't stop it. Shutting down a yard wont do
it either.

Now, ask yourself how he will deal with manpower and how he will
utilize it , mainstream it and put it to use. His model is almost
comparable to a colony of ANTS!!!
Ever single breathing body will be utilized to its fullest potential.
You will be called to work. You will work no less than 10 and if you
cant be utilized in a single trip, you will be rested and used
afterwards. HH's number one goal is "on time and on the move
freight"!
If you roll in at either end and anything needs to be attended to and
you have the hours left, you will be used. Don't expect any sympathy.
You chose the railroad life. He has a legacy to leave behind. He will
do what ever it takes to make this his last stance. He wont go down
without a fight first. Money is no concern to him personally but his
reputation in history is. Except that things are going to change.
In the meantime BE SMART and put your money away. No one knows how this
is all going to play out. One thing is guaranteed. You will have bills
to pay!

JAX:

Good post but come on, that's been going on for years - Extra list
employees drawing automatic guarantee pay = list(s) will get cut.

[Many FNGs don't seem to realize that just 1 minute off in each,
every, any, calendar day 24 hr. period costs a day's guarantee.]

And anymore, everyone has to be concerned about the darn CAPS policy.

Jax. I've been saying that for years. New guys get cut blame it
on the sob who works 40 days a month or the guy drawing 500 guarantee.
The Xb has to spin like a top or it will get cut.

What does two people working 60 hours a week= 1 U.S. Job loss!

If you work off of an xtra board that draws guarantee then it would be
in you're best interest to drop a turn, mark off sick, or get personal
business at least every pay half because that way you won't get paid
any guarantee. If they pay out guarantee they will cut a turn off which
means furlough. Yeah it sucks to not get paid guarantee but it sucks
more to be furloughed. Think about it

So every now and the someone will post something that they heard will be
happening soon and then someone from corporate office will respond in
detail exactly what will be happening and it seems like it has been a
pretty good record for accuracy, so whoever you are could you please
find out what you can about the future of the Osborn Yard in Louisville
KY and post it on here please. We keep hearing rumors that contradict so
I'm just trying to get some clarity on it.

You're just a douche nozzle trying to stir shit up. You need to ease

T&E
Your taxi flips will be out the door. You will flip on a train. You
will go to hotel if can't flip without outlawing. You will then come
home working a train or ride another as Jjob and recrew along the way
as needed.upon arrival you will assist in the yard to finish your 10
hrs. Don't expect to get any early quits. You will earn your 10
hrs.pay. wagon service will be cut in half to save money. You won't
get held away. You won't be in hotel long enough to get it. Getting on
the next train out saves hotel cost a a well. Only a one day charge from
lodging if you have to stay until your rested. Don't plan on $50 hr.
Other railroads agreements don't mean a thing to csx. You will get
what they see fit. A new lifestyle is in the making for everyone. Adapt
or find another career. Early quits will be 10 hrs. That's what you
will be paid for.

Sounds about right we've been working all kinds of hrs at radnor. CSX
spending all kinds of money on radnor spent all kinds of money on
caskey. Shut caskey down why not shut radnor down. HH tethered to
damn oxygen machine making calls that no would make. HH doesn't care
about tomorrow odds are he won't be here.

Radnor yard (Nashville) will be a skeleton crew yard by the end of the
year. It is no longer in the "plan". Ninety percent of T&E jobs will
be cut off this Saturday with other crafts to follow at the beginning of

50 an hour will be the target, look up the CN and CP contracts. They
ended last year topping out at over 49 an hour. Depends on whether
they do away with the Engineer bonus and stock option. That alone is
equivalent to about 10 an hour.....
