One thing I have witnessed over the years, are cuts of cars that are on
air and cuts that are not on air. Doing a pull and the knuckle breaks,
cars on flat ground with no air on them can travel a long way. Now if
the same thing happens on a grade thatís a different story. Doing this
with out air on cars sooner or later the worse is going to happen. With
these longer trains now the knuckles are weakened and a lot cracked,
just waiting for the right time to break. This switching on grades with
no air is dangerous. Donít just keep doing it , and expect nothing bring
it to the attention to someone that can address this bad practice.
