Furloughs have been a part of railroading since it began. Now sure how
it works these days but they use to hire 10 hoping 2 would stay. Some
quit after a few days, some never came back from furloughs, and some
didn't belong on the railroad. Not to many if any places you can make
decent money, have health care for the family, and a decent pension.
